With the increased attention on immigration
and migrant workers in New Zealand, the
focus on the cleaning industry has begun.
BSCNZ has been engaging with the Labour
Inspectorate and Immigration NZ to ensure our
members are compliant with NZ Employment
laws and the BSCNZ Code of Practice.
The BSCNZ membership is currently
being independently audited. We expect a
completion date by the end of August 2017.
The assurance that comes with third party
independent auditing lets clients, members
and the public know that carrying the
BSCNZ member brand name equates to
excellence in the sector. All members must be
BSCNZ members audited and certified

The upcoming BSCNZ's Cleaning
for a Brighter Future conference
represents a coming of age for
New Zealand's cleaning industry,
writes Mark Robinson national

On the 6 and 7 of September, the New
Zealand Cleaning Industry will come
together for the Cleaning for a Brighter Future
conference. We have an exciting line up of
speakers, industry advisors and suppliers.
The event will bring together likeminded
professionals to network with over the
Hon Michael Woodhouse Minister of
Immigration, Workplace Relations and
Safety and ACC will be offcially opening
the conference. Stu Lumsden national
manager from the Labour Inspectorate
will also be speaking at the event to outline
in more detail the work being done by the
department in the industry.
It is important that clients understand the
role they play in completing due diligence on
the contractors they award work to. Driving
prices downwards leads to non-compliance
in many areas.
